3. If someone asked you, “Who do you think Jesus is?” how would you answer in one
sentence?
Transition:
In John 8, Jesus makes a claim so bold that it moves people from questioning to
picking up stones.
Part 1: The MISUNDERSTOOD Messiah
Read John 8:49–50 aloud

1. What accusation is made against Jesus?
Possible Answer: They accuse Him of being demon-possessed — a serious
spiritual condemnation.
2. How does Jesus respond to this insult?
Possible Answer: Calmly. He does not retaliate. He simply clarifies that He
honors the Father.

Possible Answer: He is secure in His identity. He does not seek personal glory but
the Father’s.
